Anthony Melas aka A.M. SNiPER was born in England and grew up between his hometown of London and his cultural home of Cyprus more specifically, Ayia Napa.
The wordsmith/producer has been played across Europe, featured on chart hits, topped the iTUNES, AMAZON and HMV UK download charts, performed and collaborated with superstars from both sides of the Atlantic such as 50 Cent, Akon, Curtis Young, Ghetts, Giggs, JME, Juelz Santana, Julian Marley, Kanye West, Lethal Bizzle, Memphis Bleek, Mutya Buena, N.O.R.E, Rick Ross, Sway, Tinie Tempah, Tyga, Wiley, Wretch 32 plus many more and appeared in some of the biggest music publications throughout Europe and the UK.
As a well-known entrepreneur in the leisure and entertainment business throughout Cyprus and the Mediterranean, A.M. SNiPER is at the forefront of regular music events, cultural projects, new venue openings and exciting festivals taking place during the summer season in Ayia Napa. These include major events such as the weekly ‘Kandi Festival’, and the annual ‘Napa Rocks’ which have become platforms for world famous acts to perform on the island.
As a recording artist, A.M. SNiPER’s early success was with the UK chart-topping, platinum selling, award winning, So Solid Crew, with whom he featured as a DJ, Producer and Artist. Other notable achievements include the official remix of “The One” by Cassius Henry (featuring Freeway), with A.M. SNiPER’s remix featuring an appearance from Kanye West.
As a solo artist, his career started in the Hip-Hop mixtape circuit having solidified strong working relationships with Memphis Bleek and DJ Green Lantern. The three of them, (on Jay-Z’s Athens tour stop), recorded “The Scope’s on You Volume 1” in just three days. The lead single from the mixtape, “Around the World”, received video play across Europe on MTV, support on all major UK radio stations and topped the HMV UK download charts. A.M. SNiPER followed with the release of the highly acclaimed free download “The Scope’s on You Volume 2” hosted again by DJ Green Lantern which was covered by the world’s leading Hip-Hop websites.
Through his own creative insight and experience, A.M. SNiPER proceeded to setup his own creative production house 3fifty7, distributed by Absolute and licensed by a number of influential labels throughout the European region. One of his first highlights came in the form of an online competition he launched called “DAT BODY” the video for which was initially launched in 2009 and became viral reaching almost 2 million views on Youtube and topped the Amazon UK download charts. A.M. SNiPER was presented with a gold disc from ‘’Dat Body’s” sales in Cyprus in 2010.
On 11.11.11 A.M.SNiPER released an EP aptly named “11”. The videos for the three tracks ‘NOiSE’, ‘DiSTORTED’, and ‘SYSTEM’ achieved over 2 million views on YouTube.
A.M. SNiPER continued to break boundaries with a spectacular Summer in 2013 seeing the star perform alongside Tinie Tempah, record new material with Wiley and release his single “Its BIG (The Kettle on my Wrist)”. The humorous take on British bling was written and produced by A.M SNiPER and was given support by the MTV network, BBC network, along with 6 different music video channels within the UK thanks to the entertaining and extraordinary visuals that A.M. SNiPER has now become famed for providing. “It’s Big (The Kettle on my Wrist)” topped the Cyprus iTunes Charts and also spent 10 weeks in the UK urban charts, peaking at No. 2.
In the latter part of 2013, A.M. SNiPER went to produce a party anthem “The Party Don’t Stop” alongside KJ Fox and Grammy Award winning Carl-So-Lowe (who has a string of top 5 hits to his name and has previously produced tracks for Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, TLC, Jermaine Dupri, Outkast and Aaliyah). “The Party Don’t Stop” achieved No.1 on the Cyprus Charts following its release in early 2014.
Moving in to 2014, A.M. SNiPER embarked on the release of “Bus Pass” featuring UK hit maker, Wiley. The video was released via A.M. SNiPER’s VEVO channel on the 16th May and was immediately supported by MTV, SBTV and the BBC networks. The track was made Charlie Sloth’s record of the week on BBC Radio 1Xtra and having seen the video online, MTV Base requested to give the video it’s TV premiere. MTV Iggy, the U.S based branch of MTV which identifies exciting new artists, also selected A.M. SNiPER’s ‘Bus Pass’ to feature on their site and be promoted through their network. Racking up over 220,000 views and counting, the Bus Pass campaign hit number 1 in the Cypriot iTunes chart, number 1 in the Greek iTunes hip hop charts, number 2 in the Music Week UK Urban Club Chart, number 3 in the Music Week UK Pop Chart, number 27 in the Eurpoean Airplay Top 40, number 86 in the UK iTunes Hip Hop Charts and it also made the top 100 most played chart on UK TV.
It was 2014 that also saw A.M. SNiPER perform with Rick Ross and Tyga.
A.M. SNiPER’s single NOWHERE was released on the 7th of December 2014 leading into the release of the “Audio Postcards” EP on 14th of December 2014. Maintaining his title as the Meditterannean Culture Soundman, Nowhere and the Audio Postcards EP achieved No.1 position in the music charts of Cyprus and Greece as well as charting in several countries across Europe.
With his alternative sound and his intriguing social presence, A.M. SNiPER has accumulated over 50,000 supporters from his own social networks alone and over 5 Million YouTube views and counting.
